After winning the Republican nomination for Shiawassee County sheriff, I now look forward to uniting our party for victory in November! I remain committed to the absolute safety of our citizens and our officers and will place the finest people in the best positions to accomplish that goal. The citizens of Shiawassee County and the men and women of the sheriff's department deserve a sheriff who is educated, experienced, and concerned for the safety and welfare of our community. I have remained a lifelong Republican and refused to abandon the party that shares my fundamental political beliefs. I currently work with the sheriff's department on a daily basis, as I have done for many years. After 19 years of public service as a Shiawassee county prosecutor this is the only time that I have felt the need to offer my services as an elected official, and I am certain that I am the best candidate to provide the leadership, knowledge, and experience the department needs.
Deana Finnegan was born and raised in Shiawassee County. She is a graduate of Durand High School and has devoted her career to public service and in prosecuting crimes against women and children.She and her husband Patrick, have two children. Daughter, Keely, is currently a senior at Central Michigan University, majoring in elementary education. Son, Patrick, is a graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor,and is currently in his third year at Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Lansing.

Summa Cum Laude graduate, Durand High School Bachelor of Arts, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor Juris Doctor, Thomas M. Cooley Law School Experienced: Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, Shiawassee County Prosecutor's Office, served as chief assistant from 1995 - 2001 Prosecuting Attorney's Association of Michigan, Violence Against Women Training Attorney. Trained police, prosecutors and victim's rights personnel on issues of investigating and prosecuting crimes against women. 2002 Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards Instructor. Selected to train law enforcement officers in various areas of criminal law. Prosecuting Attorney's Association of Michigan, Visiting Instructor. Over 19 years of prosecution experience, directing hundreds of criminal investigations through various police agencies, including the Shiawassee County Sheriff's Department and successfully trying and convicting the County's most serious felons.
